Jeffrey L. Goldberg is Co-Managing Partner and Founder of The Milestone Group and Co-Chair of the firm’s Investment Committee. With more than 35 years of experience in real estate private equity, Mr. Goldberg plays a central role in setting the firm’s strategic direction and is deeply involved in acquisitions, asset management, and portfolio-level decision making across Milestone’s platform.
Prior to co-founding Milestone in 2003, Mr. Goldberg was a Managing Director at Insignia Financial Group, an early leader in distressed real estate investing, where he was responsible for all workouts, restructurings, and recapitalizations and led the firm’s principal investing activities. From 1996 to 2003, Mr. Goldberg served as head of Insignia’s Co-Investment Group, overseeing all principal investment activity, including joint venture acquisitions, tender offers, and portfolio purchases. During his tenure, the group completed approximately $1.9 billion of transactions across the United States and the United Kingdom.
Earlier in his career, from 1991 to 1996, Mr. Goldberg led Insignia’s asset management department, where his team executed more than 130 transactions and restructurings across a diverse portfolio of assets. In July 2003, Insignia Financial Group was acquired by CB Richard Ellis.
Mr. Goldberg holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Business Administration from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is actively involved in industry and academic leadership, serving on the Board of the University of Pennsylvania General Alumni Society and the Board of the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education. He is also a board member of the National Multifamily Housing Council and a member of the Urban Land Institute.
